Copper Knee Brace for Arthritis
Neo Sports Lab has developed a series of copper rich compression sleeves – this copper knee brace for arthritis, copper wrist compression sleeve, copper elbow compression sleeve, and copper ankle compression sleeve. Our copper sleeves are true copper rich that contain 25% copper fiber, the highest copper content a sleeve can have without breaking up under pressure. The many others on market who claim as high as 88% copper content are inevitable the impossibility.
Copper compression fabric has drawn a huge attention to health and sports industries because of its claim on relieving pain and improving sports endurance. Although there’s little to no reliable scientific evidence that the copper/compression combo does what manufacturers are claiming, people who have been using the copper compression products do feel they have helped them in one way or the other.
Copper Knee Brace for Arthritis – Does It Really Work?
Knee braces are a great way to help alleviate the pain associated with arthritis. They’re especially effective for patients with osteoarthritis. Because arthritis knee supports encourage mobility and activity, they can also help reduce stiffness in the joint
The overall argument is that compression along with copper weaving in the fabric can work together to help you relieve knee pain of arthritis and avoid fatigue.
Let’s break down and check each element:
Compression: What it does
Researchers have noted some benefits of using compression braces or sleeves to help with pain relief and recovery after exercise.
These benefits include:
- Less muscle swelling
- Lower sensation of muscle pain
- Increased lactic acid removal from muscles
Compression works by limiting swelling while providing support to the injured area. Medical compression sleeves have also been prescribed to help prevent leg swelling and blood clots in patients who’ve had surgery.
Copper: What it does
Studies support the antimicrobial properties of copper. This is based on a concept called “contact killing,” which means that bacteria, yeast and viruses are killed on solid metallic copper surfaces. Copper has been registered at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as an antimicrobial material.
As a result, copper may eliminate odors as your leg sweat, which is a nice benefit. However, studies have not shown copper to be effective at managing pain, stiffness or physical function. Any analgesic benefits were found to be the results of placebo effect.
Compression and copper as a combo
There’s just not any evidence yet to support the idea that people who use copper-infused compression sleeves would benefit more in preventing fatigue or facilitating recovery compared to non-copper alternatives, other than the potential benefit related to odor.
The verdict on copper compression sleeves
At this time, the research remains somewhat limited. Further study is needed to shed more light on the effect of copper and compression when used in support to delay or prevent muscle fatigue. There are many questions that remain unanswered and variables that still need to be tested.
That said, there’s no harm in wearing copper compression sleeves if you don’t have any other issues. However, you should call your care provider if you notice any circulation issues or skin changes that don’t appear to be normal or that concern you.
Copper Knee Brace for Arthritis – Our Experience
From the many years of developing and manufacturing copper braces and compression sleeves and from our customers’ feedback, our copper brace and compression sleeves for knee, elbow, wrist, and ankle do provide benefits in helping relive pain and fatigue.
What makes our copper sleeves different and more effective:
Copper Rich: To be effective, the copper sleeves have to be truly copper rich. Since copper is a soft metal element and easily breakable under certain pressure, it is very critical to control the copper content in a compression sleeve. A 25% copper is believed to be the upper limit in a mild to moderate compression fabric.
Graduate Compression: As determined by the breakable nature of copper, a copper sleeve cannot have too much compression. A moderate compression copper sleeve that generates slow but graduate compression will give the maximum benefit of copper and compression.
Breathable: Copper itself has some effect in eliminating odor, but not enough if used for longer period. A copper sleeve made from breathable fabric can evaporate sweat to create the “cooling” effect and thus is comfortable to wear. What we did is by adding the “moisture-wicking” polyester into the fabric to make the sleeves more breathable.
Lightweight Longer Wear: To get the full benefit, a copper compression sleeve needs to be worn longer, so a lightweight breathable copper sleeve that can be worn under clothes all day long is a good choice to go.
